It's not...fashion?

The higher world of Fashion is notorious for exclusivity. We have a front row dictation of who is 'hot' or 'not' at the fashion shows, sky-high price tags for a name or logo and steady streams of images of perceived sartorial perfection, involving beautiful and affluent creatures sporting the new 'it' bag.

The lower reaches of the fashion industry is built on the aspirations of the general populous to be these 'higher beings'. With the decline of economic prospects, the rise and rise of fast-fashion (buy cheap and often everyone!) and with reference to that scene in 'The Devil Wears Prada', the fashion conscious twenty-somethings of today are left holding the (*gasp* polyester-mix) cerulean jumper with tenuous links to that designer collection a season or so ago.

Well I don't want a poor [wo]man's imitation of something i will never have, and so i have created this blog.  'I can't believe it's not fashion'. A blog where personal style reigns. It is here where utilizing what you already have in the wardrobe will be celebrated, not having those top-ten-new-season-must-have pieces. When to save, and when to invest in clothing will be discussed, and keeping at pace with the roaring race of the fashion-forward, whilst cultivating your own identity and communication through clothing, without looking like everyone else.... is basically my lifelong mission.

The amazing blog, 'Shit bloggers wear'  find it at

It is not that 'fashion' is a dirty word, quite the opposite in fact.. Clothing is a tool that can be used to communicate without language or informed learning , it is fascinating! A great way to gauge the temperament of a certain historical event or period is to look at what people were wearing at the time. I believe with the increased popularity of the 'Fashion blog' we are living in our own little phenomenon today. The successful fashion blogger has become an aspiration of it's very own. It is not uncommon for these bloggers to be clad in the same designer shoes or bags now, and quite frankly i cannot relate anymore. So i have decided to create a space where hopefully people like you or me, interested in fashion but thirsty for something different, can enjoy a little piece of the fashion blogsphere. Except that this is not one of those 'Fashion blogs', hence the name "I cant believe it's not fashion".  A warm welcome to you, reader, and i hope you enjoy my tiny tiny tremor of revolution in the vast fashion universe.

Stay unfashionable,

Elodie x
